“The Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development has actively participated in the Agricultural Policy Forum, which took place in Ohrid, North Macedonia, on October 9 and 10. This year, the “Agricultural Policy Forum (APF) 2019” focuses on “The Contribution of Economic Activities Diversification in Sustainable Rural Development in Southeastern Europe,” aiming to promote cooperation as a broad regional platform for interaction and recommendations on regional agricultural and rural development policies in Southeastern Europe. The Agricultural Policy Forum is organized by the Regional Permanent Group for Rural Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy of North Macedonia.

Of particular interest to the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development were the achievements and impact of the IPARD program in the Western Balkans, concerning the role of Rural Tourism and economic activities diversification in rural areas. Furthermore, the participants emphasized the potential these regions have for the development of local economy, community-led initiatives, and the enhancement of research capacities for sustainable agricultural and rural development in the western region.”
